ANNUAL SESSION, 09/13/1853

Meeting held at Boston (Ch1-637):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • Report on regalia to be lent to Franklin Chapter of Greenfield.

Adjourned to 10/11/1853.

  • Remarks on the meeting of the General Grand Chapter.
  • Finance.
  • The meeting elected the officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year, with R. E. Stephen Lovell re-elected Grand High Priest; other officers elected and appointed as noted on Pages ChI-640 and ChI-643.
  • The 5th Article of the Grand Regulations was voted to be repealed.

STATED MEETING, 12/13/1853

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-641):

  • Washington Chapter reported the recovery of its original charter.
  • Northampton Chapter was reported to have made no return and paid no dues; referred to committee.
  • The Grand Secretary was directed to write to King Cyrus Chapter to request payment of its dues.
  • Installation.
  • The death of former Grand High Priest Daniel Gibbens was reported. A committee was appointed to draft resolutions of sympathy.

STATED MEETING, 03/07/1854

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-645):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • The committee memorializing former Grand High Priest Daniel Gibbens was granted further time.
  • A communication from King Cyrus Chapter was received, requesting further time to pay dues, which was granted.
  • The Grand Secretary was directed to send copies of the Regulations to every Chapter "with such alterations as have been made since the same were printed."
  • The Proceedings are to be printed, and the Grand Chapter should correspond with other Grand Chapters.
  • A committee was appointed "to consider the expediency of appointing an agent or agents on the part of the Grand Chapter, to hold official communication with all the Chapters under the jurisdiction."

STATED MEETING, 06/13/1854

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-648):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • King Cyrus Chapter surrendered its Charter along with regalia. The Grand Secretary was "directed to address the members of the late King Cyrus Chapter, expressive of the kindness and fraternal regard of this body toward them, and at the same time reminding them that their records should also be returned."
  • Vote to attend St. John's Day celebration in Framingham.
  • The committee memorializing former Grand High Priest Daniel Gibbens was granted further time.
  • Consideration was given to restore Article 5 of the General Regulations.
  • A petition by Sutton Chapter to hold some of its meetings in Grafton was granted.
  • A communication from Comp. Franklin Weston regarding "Royal Arch Masonry in the western part of the Commonwealth," and was referred to committee.
