BIOGRAPHY

Gus O. Nations was the son of a lawyer and law enforcement officer of the U.S. Justice Department and was the grandson of a judge who was a one-time candidate for President of the United States. Gus was born September 16, 1927 in St Louis County. He was educated in the Webster Groves public schools and Washington University graduating from the latter with a Bachelor Degree in 1950 and a Doctorate of Law in 1952. Brother Nations practiced law in the St Louis Area and also before the State Appellate Court, Federal Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Brother Nations showed evidence of an early interest in government by serving Webster Groves as a Councilman, Mayor Pro Tem and Mayor during the 1960's.

His Masonic career began on November 3, 1952 with his election to receive the degrees in Purity Lodge No 658 where he served as Master in 1960 as had his father before him. He served as DDGM of the 57th Masonic District, is a Past President of the Masonic Home, A member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of St Louis and has been coronated a 33rd degree.

Gus was appointed to the Grand Lodge line by Most Worshipful Brother Thomas Davis and was elected Grand Master in 1971.

Grand Master Nations passed away May 27, 2010. There were not any Masonic Services
