S. FORREST KELLIHER 1909-1998

Bom in Holbrook, Massachusetts, January 13,1909, the son of Samuel J. and Alice E. (Foley) Kelliher. Died in Brockton, Massachusetts, August 1, 1998. He was the husband of Dorothy (Barnes) Kelliher, who died May 25, 1998. He moved to Brockton at an early age and graduated from Brockton High School in 1926. In 1930, he received a degree from Boston University.

Familiarly known as "Forrie", he had been office manager at V.& F.W. Filoon Company in Brockton, and was a partner with Brown, Holdridge and Company, a CPA firm in Boston. At the time of his retirement in 1975, he was assistant controller at the Boston Globe. Active in Boy Scouting, he had been an Eagle Scout. He was a corporator of the Brockton Savings Bank, a director of the Montello Federal Savings and Loan, a director of the United Way and its budget committee, and a member of the advisory board of Mayflower RSVP. He was a former president of the YMCA, and recipient of the Good Citizen Award from the American Red Cross.

He was a trustee of the former Porter Congregational Church for six years and its moderator for 16 years prior to its merger into Christ Congregational Church.

Right Worshipful "Forrie" was active Masonically as a member of Paul Revere Lodge, Brockton. He was raised December 14, 1937. He served as Master in 1952 and 1953, and District Deputy Grand Master of the Brockton 29th Masonic District in 1963 and 1964; a holder of the 50 year Veteran's Medal and 60 year pin. He was a former speaker and lecturer in the 41st Lodge of Instruction. He was Past President of the Brocklon Masonic Temple Association, and Past President of the Worshipful Masters Association of Southeastern Massachusetts. He served the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts as Junior Grand Warden in 1977 while Most Worshipful Stanley Fielding Maxwell was Grand Master. He received the Henry Price Medal in 1977.

He headed all three York Rite Masonic Orders in Brockton as High Priest of Satucket Royal Arch Chapter, Illustrious Master of Brockton Council Royal and Select Masters, and Eminent Commander of Bay State Commandery #38, Knights Templar. He was District Deputy Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Massachusetts, Prior of the Knights of the Cross of Honour, and a member of York Rite's highest plateau - the Red Cross of Constantine. He received the Abraham A. Dame Medal. Also, he was a member of Damascus Tabernacle No. XXVI, the Aleppo Temple Shrine, Boston Court No. 103 Royal Order of Jesters, and 32° Degree member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Boston.

He is survived by a son, Neil F. Kelliher of Simsbury, Connecticut, a brother, Phillip G. Kelliher of Elmira, New York, and two grandchildren.

Masonic Services were conducted by Paul Revere Lodge at Sampson & Hall Funeral Home, Brockton, August 5, 1998. Committal was at Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
