BIOGRAPHY

Albert William Abramson of Warwick Lodge No. 16, F. & A. M. of West Warwick, was elected and installed the One Hundred and Fourteenth Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations at the One Hundred and Seventy-eighth Annual Communication held at Freemasons Hall, Providence, Rhode Island on May 19, 1969.

Most Worshipful Brother Abramson was born in Greenwood, in the Town of Warwick on September 17, 1911, the son of Alfred and Mathilda (Hammarlund) Abramson and received his education in the Public Schools of Warwick and West Warwick.

He has been employed at the Pontiac Print Works, Inc. (Formerly the Fruit of the Loom, Inc.) since 1929 and is presently Overseer of Finishing, a position he has held for a number of years.

On September 19, 1936 he married the former Ellen Lorette Blinkhorn of Warwick, who passed away suddenly just prior to his installation.

Brother Abramson served two and one half years in the Quarter Masters Corp during World War II, serving in the Pacific Theatre at Hawaii and Guam and was honorably discharged with the rank of Staff Sgt. in January of 1946.

An active Lutheran Churchman he was a member of the former Gustavous Adolphus Lutheran Church in Natick and was its Treasurer for a number of years until it's disbandment and is now a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in the Pontiac section of Warwick.

Most Worshipful Brother Abramson was made a Mason in Warwick Lodge No. 16 on September 25, 1947 and was admitted on March 11, 1948. He was elected it's Worshipful Master on October 29, 1957. He holds Dual membership with Daylight Lodge No. 48 of Providence, being one of its Charter Members.

Brother Abramson holds membership in the following Masonic Organizations: Landmark Chapter No. 10, R. A. M. of which he is a Past High Priest; Narragansett Council No. 6, R. & S. M.; Calvary Commandery No. 13, K. T.; Palestine Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. and the Four Bodies of the A. A. S. R. in the Valley of Providence and is presently Thrice Potent Master of Solomon's Lodge of Perfection 14°.

He is a Past Patron of Ruth Chapter, No. 5, O. E. S.; member of Rhode Island Convention Anointed High Priests; Gaspee Order No. 99, Swords of Bunker Hill; Masonic Veterans Association; Knights of Mecca; One Hundred Club; Marhaba and Aruba Shrine Clubs. Honorary member of National Sojourners, Grand Cross of Color, International Order of Rainbow for Girls.

Besides his Masonic affiliations ho is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a Past District Master of Rhode Island District No. 3, Vasa Order of America.

Brother Abramson Berved for three years as Grand Master of Ceremonies for R. W. Leonard E. Smith and was appointed Sixth District Deputy Grand Master on May 16, 1960 by Most Worshipful Irving L. Tucker. He was appointed each year thereafter and served in all the districts except the Seventh. He was elected Junior Grand Warden on May 16, 1966. Senior Grand Warden on May 15, 1967 and Deputy Grand Master on May 20, 1908. He is the Grand Representative to the Grand Lodge of Canada in the Province of Ontario and holds Honorary membership in Harmony Lodge No. 9 and Nathanael Greene Lodge No. 45.
