According to Moore's Freemason's Monthly, Vol. III, No. 5, March, 1844, Page 162:

"On the 13th May, 1756, the M. W. Grand Master, Jeremy Gridley, Esq., commissioned his Brother, the R. W. Richard Gridley, Esq., to Congregate all Free and Accepted Masons in the present expedition against Crown Point, and form them into one or more Lodges, as he shall think fit, and to appoint Wardens and other officers to a lodge appertaining.

To all and Every Our Right Worshipfull & Loving Brethren, We Jeremy Gridley Esqr. Grand Master of the Ancient & Honorable Society of Free & Accepted Masons of all Such Places in North America where no Grand Master is appointed

Send greeting —

Know ye that we by Virtue of the Authority Committed to us By the Right Honorable & Right Worshipfull James Bridges Marquis of Carnarvan Grand Master of Masons do hereby nominate appoint & Authorize our Right Worshipfull & well beloved Richard Gridley Esqr. to Congregate all Free & Accepted Masons in the Present Expedition against Crown Point, and form them into one or more Lodges, as he shall think fitt and to appoint Wardens, and all other Officers to a Lodge appertaining, and we do hereby give to Such Lodge & Lodges all the Priviledges & Authority of Stated Lodges and enjoin them to conform themselves to the Constitutions, and Ancient Customs of Masonry, and to transmit the Names of all Persons that shall be made Masons in any of them and one Pistole for every one so made to Our Grand Secretary at Boston for the use & Releif of indigent Brothers.
