BIOGRAPHY

A successful businessman who has given a lifetime of service to his native town of Norwell, R. W. Richard A. Gaudette is prepared to give much of his energy to Masonry as the result of his election as Junior Grand Warden of our Grand Lodge. A Past Master of Phoenix Lodge of Hanover, he was Grand Pursuivant to M. W. David B. Richardson when the Grand Master was Senior Grand Warden in 1976.

Master of the 18th Lodge Of Instruction in 1977, he was D. D. G. M. of the Plymouth 27th District in 1982-83. He is the representative of Phoenix Lodge and the Plymouth district to the Masonic Home. Bro. Gaudette holds membership in York and Scottish Rite bodies, Aleppo Shrine, and is a member of the Southeast Past Masters Association and the South Shore Shrine Club.

Married to the former Eleanor Wadsworth, they are parents of sons Peter, Stephen, and David, and the family is actively involved in the First Parish Unitarian Church of Norwell. He has been a Trustee for 28 years and his wife has been president of the Women's Alliance three times, a superintendent and teacher in the Sunday School, and both have been advisors to the parish youth group.

A member of the Marshfield Country Club, Bro. Gaudette is a member of the Norwell Appeals Board, a past member of the Norwell Industrial Commission, and for 42 years served with the town fire department. He has been on the Board of Fire Engineers for 15 years and was fire chief five years. A service station-garage operator for 35 years and a school bus contractor for 33 years, he is a Trustee of the South Scituate Savings Bank and the Quincy Savings Bank, and is still actively engaged in business.

RICHARD GAUDETTE OBITUARY

Richard A. Gaudette, 94, of Duxbury, formerly of Norwell, died in Florida Jan. 4. Loving husband for 68 years to the late Eleanor W. Gaudette, he was the loving father to Peter L. and his wife Jean Marie Eufrazio of Plymouth, Stephen A. and his wife Cheryl of Wanamass, N.J., and the late David A. Gaudette; loving grandfather to six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews; loving brother to Virginia Rule of Florida and to Miriam Jordan, Delia Parker and Wilder (Bud) Gaudette, who have predeceased him; loving son of the late Horace D. and Lillian (Wilder) Gaudette; brother-in-law to Richard and Alice (Wadsworth) Davis of Carver; and companion to Jane Shaw. M

r. Gaudette was a member of the Norwell Fire Department serving as Chief for several years, served on several town boards and was honored as the Man of the Year by the Chamber of Commerce. He was also on the Board of Directors for the South Scituate Savings Bank and Quincy Savings Bank. Mr. Gaudette was an active member of the Marshfield Country Club for many years. Mr. Gaudette was a past Master of the Phoenix Lodge, Hanover, where he was presented with a 50-year medal and the Henry Price Medal. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Grand Lodge, Boston, as well as several other Orders of Masonry. Mr. Gaudette was an active member of the Phoenix Lodge for 58 years. Visiting hours will be held at the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., (Rte. 3A), N. Plymouth, Wednesday, Jan. 18 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., with a Masonic service at 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at First Parish Church, 24 River St., Norwell Center, Thursday, Jan. 19, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Washington Street Cemetery, Norwell. Arrangements by the Richard Davis Funeral Home, 373 Court St., N. Plymouth. Donations in his memory may be made to the David A. Gaudette Fund, c/o the First Parish Fund Corp., P.O. Box 152, Norwell, MA 02061.
