BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research (note that this biography may have been written before Bro. Davis' death. He died in 1985 and is buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Piedmont, Missouri):

Tom Davis was born at Knobel, Arkansas, December 5, 1919, the third of eight children. After graduating from public school he entered business as a grocery man. At the beginning of World War II Tom desired to serve his country in the United States Air Force which prompted him to meet the extensive test and examinations necessary in lieu of a two-year college requirement. He earned his wings as a pilot and was commissioned in 1942, He flew a variety of aircraft, but spent his time in combat as a pilot of a B-17. While stationed in Africa and Italy, he received several medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and completed his tour of duty with the rank of Caption.

Boy Scouts and DeMolay were two of the many youth related organizations which benefited from Tom's leadership

Brother Davis began his Masonic life shortly after returning to Piedmont in 1946. He received his degrees in Wayne Lodge No 526 and was Master in 1953. He served as DDGL of the 52nd Masonic District from 1955-1960 and was a member of the Grand Lodge Ways and Means Committee.He was appointed to the advancing line in 1962 by Grand Master Dickinson and installed Grand Master in 1971. He served on the Board of Directors of the Masonic Home.

Grand Master Davis was also a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of St Louis and became Venerable Master of the Lodge of Perfection. He was decorated with a KCCH in 1965 and coronated a 33rd degree on October 21, 1971.

He also held membership in the Piedmont Chapter NO 347 of the Eastern Star , Moolah Temple and in 1972 appointed ot the line of the Lodge of Research. He did not serve as Master.
