NOTES

From New England Craftsman, Vol. V, No. 7, April 1910, Page 251:

We have received the "Centennial History Of Oxford Lodge No. 18, F. & A. M., Norway, Maine," a book of nearly 200 pages with portraits of forty-five past masters of the lodge. 'The history is substantially in the form of annals and gives quite minutely the incidents of the lodge from its beginning. The Charter of Oxford lodge was issued by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, September 14, 1807 and the first meeting held under it was November 12, following. Henry Farwell was chosen Master. The lodge was dormant during the anti-Masonic times, there being no record of a meeting from March 24, 1831 until April 21, 1853. There is however a pencil record that is nearly effaced on a blank leaf of Vol. I of the records at the end of the book as follows: "At a special meeting of Oxford Lodge, June (or Jan.) 27, 1846, proceeded to elect officers to govern said Lodge until our annual meeting September next."
