BIOGRAPHY

Vern H. Schneider is a member of the "Truman Line". He was born May 1, 1924 at Wilder, Kansas and was educated the public schools of Bonner Springs, Kansas. His college career at the University of Kansas was interrupted by more than three years of service in the United States Army during World War II, While in the army, he studied engineering at the University of San Francisco and Pre-Dentistry at Stanford University. He served overseas in Germany for over a year in the Allied Military Government following the war and attended school in England.

He received and A.B. Degree at the University of Kansas in 1947 and continued graduate education at the University. Academic honors include election to Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Sigma Alpha. He studied Law at Harvard School of Law and received his LL.B. degree in 1950. Brother Schneider has practiced law in St Louis since that time.

Brother Schneider married the former Nada Sue Roberson of Mexico, Missouri in 1955. She passed away in 2000. They had one son, Lawrence, two daughters Susan Johnston and Sarah Marmill and six grandchildren.

He was raised in Tuscan Lodge No 360 in St Louis on June 26, 1956 and served as Master in 1964 and served as DDGM of the 33rd Masonic District Div "A" in 1966. He served on the Credentials Committee and the Jurisprudence Committee of the Grand Lodge for many years.

He was appointed by Grand Master Poe to the advancing line in 1976 and installed Grand Master in 1984.

In 2002, he was awarded the "Truman Medal" by Grand Master Glenn Means for all his outstanding work.

Brother Schneider was a member of the Board of Directors of the Masonic Home of Missouri from 1971 to 1975 and again from 1980 to 1985. For many years he has been legal council for the Home.

In the York Rite, he is a member of St Louis Chapter No 1, RAM, Hiram Council No 1, Cryptic Masons, Ivanhoe Commandery No 8KT, Ray V. Denslow Chapter No 102, Allied Masonic Degrees, Red Branch of Eri and Bruce Harmon Hunt York Rite College (Charter member and Governor). In 1998 he received the Gold Honor Award and thereafter was elected an Associate Regent of the York Rite College of North American when the Order of the Purple Cross was bestowed on him.

Vern belongs to the Scottish Rite, Valley of St Louis, where he served as Wise Master of St Louis Chapter Rose Croix. He received his KCCH in 1967 and 33rd degree in 1973.

He was elected Knight Commander of the Temple by the Grand Encampment Knights Templar of the United States of American in 1994.In 1996, he was elected an Honorary Past Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery KT of the State of Missouri. He served as Chairman of the 60th Triennial Conclave of the Grand Encampment Knights Templar held in St Louis in 1997 and was designated an Honorary Past Department Commander of the Grand Encampment.

Brother Schneider is a member of the St Louis Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine and served as Puissant Sovereign in 1994. He was appointed Intendant General of Missouri. Southern Division in 1996.

He is a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, Moolah Shrine, Alhambra Grotto, Missouri Lodge of Research and DeMolay Legion of Honor.
