BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research; note that this biography precedes Brother Poe's decease; he died in 2013, and is buried in West Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Stoddard County, Missouri.

Fielding Poe a descendant of a pioneer family of Southeast Missouri was born on September 13, 1926, the first son of Dr. and Mrs Fielding Poe. He attended public school in Normandy, Missouri and Paragould, Arkansas. He attended Arkansas State Teachers College and received his Bachelor Degree in Education in 1949 and his Masters Degree from the University of Missouri. He also attened Peabody College in Nashville, Tennessee.

Brother Poe served as Seaman First Class in the United States Navey aboard the USS Takanis Bay C.V.E. 89 from 1944-1946

F. A.'s career began as a principle and teacher in the Airport School, Sikeston, Missouri in 1949, where he taught until 1954. At which time he became Principal and teacher at the Springdale Schools, Berkeley, Missouri and in 1976 he transferred to the position of Principal of he Common School in Ferguson-Florissant District in St Louis County.

Brother Poe was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason in Berkeley Lodge No 667 on March 29. 1956 and served as Master in 1962. He served as DDGM and was appointed Grand Marshal of the Grand Lodge in 1968. He served as President of the Board of Directors of the Masonic Home and on September 28, 1976, he was installed Grand Master.

Most Worshipful Brother Poe served as Coordinator of Fraternal Relations, Masonic Home of Missouri from 1972 to 1992. He was a member of the Scottish Rite and received his KCCH in 1975 and has been coronated a 33rd degree member.

He was a member of the York Rite bodies and while in college at Arkansas State was a member of Phi Alpha Zeta.
