Mentioned in the committee report on Grand Master William Sewall Gardner's address in September 1869 (page VII-379); "authority was given by the Grand Lodge for a French Lodge at Mayagues, Porto Rico, and this is all we know about it. Like its sister at Starbroeck, it died and 'made no sign'."
O.P. 1833 does not list this lodge on its roll.

La Gran Logia de Massachusets fundó dos logias en Puerto Rico en el 1821. En el 1859 se fundó la Gran Logia Simbólica de Colón en Cuba y ese mismo año el Supremo Consejo de Colón.
Este movimiento de Cuba tuvo la colaboración de la Gran Logia del Estado de Carolina del Sur, surgiendo así su regularidad. La Gran Logia de Cuba comenzó a fundar logias en Puerto Rico siendo una de ellas.
En expedientes sin publicar por la Gran Logia de Massachusetts hay un documento que contiene información sobre la fundación de la Respetable Logia L'heureux Reveil en la ciudad de Mayagüez fechado el 13 de junio hacienda alusion a su Sesión Trimestral.
Se copia el informe ya que es de mi conocimiento que este hecho ha sido ignorado por muchos de nuestros historiadores. Una petición firmada por Ramón V. Anón, James Avilla, John Davis, Rafael Arroyo, Agustín Mangual, Felix Lamis, Luis S. Douttel, Antonio Roselló, Rafael Mangual, y D. Meres piden una Carta Patente para establecer una logia en Mayagüez, en la isla de Puerto Rico con el nombre L'heureux Reveil (según mi traducción "El Feliz Despertar") la misma fue leída y referida a una comisión compuesta por Caleb Butler, Elijah Morse y John G. Johnson. El Respetable Hermano Caleb Butler como portavoz de la comisión informó que en su opinion la peticion debia ser concedida, y que la Carta Patente fuese expedida en la forma acostumbrada en el idioma inglés. Las minutas de la reunión celebrada por la Gran Logia de Massachusetts del 27 de diciembre del 1821 aparece la siguiente anotación, L'heureux Reveil Lodge Constituted.
El informe sometido para sostener la anotación, leía: "Por cuanto la comisión encomendada a mí por el Muy Respetable Hermano John Dixwell, Gran Maestro Gran Logia del Pueblo Politico de Massachusetts, para constituir e instalar la Logia L'hereux Reveil, a efectuarse en Mayagüez, isla de Puerto Rico, me place informarle a usted mi estimado hermano que en el 7 de octubre con el debido examen a los hermanos encontré suficientes Ex-Maestros, para formar una Gran Logia por Delegación hacienda los nombramientos y designando el dia 21 de octubre del 1821 para la constitución e instalación." De acuerdo a lo planificado, en el referido día los hermanos de la mencionada Logia se reunieron en su sala, abrieron los trabajos de la Logia para recibir la Gran Logia por Delegación. La Gran Logia por Delegación estuvo integrada por los siguientes hermanos: Primer Vigilante, John Tachow; Segundo Vigilante, Bertram Lange; Primer Diacono, Jacques; Segundo Diacono, Robert Bayley; Secretario, F. M. Andral, Marshal (Mariscal) Antonio Roselló; Tesorero, Antonio Vicentí; ademas de los Hermanos Charles M. Audibert, y Antonio Fresenelli, al mismo tiempo que se efectuaba esta ceremonia, los no participantes, reunidos en un sitio separados de ellos esperaban que la Gran Logia por Delegación abriese en el grado de Maestro Masón y que el Maestro y los oficiales de la Logia fuesen llamados. Una vez examinados individualmente, y encontrándolos a todos como verdaderos y respetables hermanos, además de buenos obreros, fueron despachados hacia su Logia para que se prepararan a recibir La Gran Logia por Delegación.
Una vez recibido el aviso de que ellos estaban listos a proseguir, se fue en procesión al Templo, donde asumieron las posiciones de sus cargos, luego de recibir las debidas instrucciones de la presidencia y la orden de que los que no fuesen Maestros Masones se retirasen. Luego instalaron al Maestro en su Trono. Le siguió la organización de la procesión para saludar a su Maestro, luego de el ser presentado como tal por el Diputado Gran Maestro. Luego de efectuado procedió a ocupar el sitio a la izquierda del Venerable Maestro. Más tarde el Secretario procedió a leer la Carta Patente dada por la Gran Logia y encontrándose todo en orden, se examinaron los expedientes de la Logia y encontrándose conforme con los reglamentos, fueron aprobados. Más tarde procedieron de acuerdo a la vieja costumbre a constituir a los hermanos en una Logia Regular, consecuentemente las joyas e insignias fueron entregadas por los oficiales a su Maestro y este se las presentó al Diputado Gran Maestro. El Maestro de la Logia fue entonces presentado al Diputado Gran Maestro. Siendo los hermanos preguntados si estaban satisfechos con la selección hecha y los hermanos dando su consentimiento al Maestro, uno tras otro presentó a sus Vigilantes y Oficiales, nombrándolos a sus distintos puestos, y el Diputado Gran Maestro hacienda el mismo anterior requerimiento a los hermanos dando su consentimiento. Luego efectuaron una corta oración al Gran Arquitecto del Universo. La Logia fue entonces dedicada en los siguientes terminos: "A la memoria de los sagrados Santos Juan dedicamos esta Logia. Puedan cada hermano reverenciar su carácter e imitar sus virtudes. Gloria a Dios." Luego procedieron a constituir la Logia por dirección del Diputado Gran Maestro quien dijo. "He sido ordenado por el Muy Respetable John Dixwell, Gran Maestro de la Gran Logia de Massachusetts hacer la proclamación que en virtud de sus poderes y autoridad estos hermanos son ahora constituidos una Sociedad Regular de Libres y Aceptados Masones con el titulo y designación de Logia L'heureux Reveil con asiento en Mayagüez, en la isla de Puerto Rico. De ahora en adelante tendra todos los poderes de ejercer sus derechos y privilegios conforme con el mantenimiento de su Patente, y las Leyes de la Gran Logia Massachussets y de acuerdo con los viejos usos de la fraternidad, y que Dios sea con ellos.
Luego procedieron con la instalación. El Maestro fue presentado después de haber sido regularmente juramentado de acuerdo a la forma especificada en el Libra de la Constitución. Fue instalado e investido como Maestro de la Logia L'heureux Reveil el querido Hermano Rafael Arroyo. Luego, el Maestro presentó a sus Vigilantes y Oficiales, al Diputado Gran Maestro quien a su vez los instaló y los invistió en el siguiente orden: Primer Vigilante, J. Simon D. Meres.; Segundo Vigilante, Agustín Mangual; Orador, Felix Garcia; Secretario, Marcos Cordero; Tesorero, Rafael Mangual; Primer Diacono, Joseph R. Cestero; Segundo Diacono, Luis Diudone; Mayordomo, Miguel Valvi y Guarda Templo Exterior Pedro Arroyo. El Maestro de la Logia dio las gracias al Diputado Gran Maestro en su mensaje. El Diputado Gran Maestro dio su mensaje a los hermanos de la recien instalada Logia. Luego el Diputado Gran Marshall proclamo la Logia constituida en forma. La Gran Logia en Diputación habiendo concluido, se retiró al salon donde habia sido formada y fue cerrada con la usual solemnidad.

Además de la Respetable Logia L'hereux Reveil, existen pruebas de la existencia de la Logia Simbólica La Fortaleza relacionada con la masonería Cubana, que fue disuelta en el año 1823. Con esta información se menciona al masón puertorriqueño Felix García de la Torre como miembro de la Logia. Otra Respetable Logia Simbolica denominada Restauración de la Verdad fue establecida en el area de Mayagüez en el 1841. Para el 1859, se recibe información de la fundación de la Gran Logia de Colón en Cuba.
ENGLISH TRANSLATION
The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts established two lodges in Puerto Rico in 1821. In 1859 the Symbolic Grand Lodge of Colón in Cuba was established, and, in the same year, the Supreme Council of Colón.
This movement in Cuba had the collaboration of the Grand Lodge of the state of South Carolina, from which it drew its regularity. The Grand Lodge of Cuba began to establish lodges in Puerto Rico, this being one of them
In unpublished files of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts there is a document containing information regarding the foundation of the honorable Lodge L'hereux Reveil in the city of Mayaguez on the 13th of June, with reference to their Quarterly Session. This report describes, according to my experience, a deed that has been ignored by most of our historians. A petition signed by Ramón V. Anón, James Avilla, John Davis, Rafael Arroyo, Agustín Mangual, Felix Lamis, Luis S. Douttel, Antonio Roselló, Rafael Mangual, y D. Meres requests a Charter for establishing a lodge in Mayaguez, on the island of Puerto Rico, with the name L'heureux Reveil (by my translation "The Happy Awakening"). It was read and referred to a committee consisting of the distinguished Brothers Caleb Butler, Elijah Morse and John G. Johnson. The distinguished Brother Caleb Butler, as chairman of the committee, reported that in his opinion the petition should be granted, and that a charter should be expedited in the accustomed form in the English language. The minutes of the meeting of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts on the 27th of December 1821 contains the following annotation: "L'hereux Reveil Lodge Constituted."
The submitted report read: "According to the report, I am directed by the Most Worshipful Grand Master John Dixwell, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, to constitute and install L'hereux Reveil Lodge, to take place in Mayaguez, on the island of Puerto Rico, and to inform you that my great friend undertook the required examination on the brothers on October 7 found sufficient Past Masters to form a Deputy Grand Lodge Delegation to gather the named brothers and designated the 21st October of 1821 for constitution and installation." According to the plan, the mentioned Brothers gathered in their lodge hall and opened their lodge to receive the Deputy Grand Lodge Delegation. This Delegation consisted of the following Brothers: Senior Warden, John Tachow; Junior Warden, Bertram Lange; Senior Deacon, Jacques; Junior Deacon, Robert Bayley; Secretary, F. M. Andral, Marshal, Antonio Roselló; Treasurer, Antonio Vicentí; as well as Brothers Charles M. Audibert and Antonio Fresenelli. Those who did not participate were in a separate location and waited for the Deputy Grand Lodge to open on the Master Mason Degree, and the Master and lodge officers were called for.
Once each was individually examined, and determined to be true and respectable Brothers, as well as good workers, they were sent to their Lodge so that they could prepare to receive the Deputy Grand Lodge Delegation.
Having received word that they were ready to proceed, {the Brothers} traveled in procession to the Temple, where they assumed the positions of their charges, to then receive their obligations, the instructions of the presidency, and the order that all who were not Master Masons should retire. Then the Master was installed in the Chair, and was then presented as such to the Deputy Grand Master, who then proceeded to occupy the chair to the Worshipful Master's left. Somewhat later the Secretary proceeded to read the Charter given by the Grand Lodge, and finding everything in order, examined the records of the lodge, finding them in conformance to the regulations; they were then approved. Later they proceeded in accordance with ancient custom to constitute the Brethren in a Regular Lodge, consequently presenting the jewels and insignias to the Master, who presented them to the Deputy Grand Master, after which the Master was presented to the Deputy Grand Master. The Brethren were then asked if they were satisfied with the selection made, and the Brethren gave their consent to the Master, who presented one after the other the Wardens and Officers, naming their particular offices; and the Deputy Grand Master gave the same request to the Brethren asking their consent. Then a short speech was given on the Grand Architect of the Universe. The lodge was then dedicated in the following terms: "To the memory of the blessed Saints John we dedicate this Lodge. Let every Brother reverence their character and imitate their virtues." Glory to God.
Then they proceeded to constitute the Lodge under the direction of the Deputy. "By direction of Most Worshipful John Dixwell, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, makes proclamation that by virtue of his power and authority, these Brothers are now constituted into a Regular Society of Free and Accepted Masons with the title and designation of L'hereux Reveil Lodge located in Mayaguez, on the island of Puerto Rico. From now and going forward they shall have all the powers and privileges in conformance with the maintenance of their Charter, the laws of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts, and the ancient usages of the fraternity; and may God be with you."
He then proceeded to the installation. The Master was presented after being regularly examined in accordance with the specified form in the Book of Constitutions. The dear Brother Hermano Rafael Arroyo was installed and invested as Master of L'heureux Reveil Lodge. Then, the Master presented his Wardens and Officers to the Deputy Grand Master, who in his turn installed and invested them in the following order: Senior Warden, J. Simon D. Meres.; Junior Warden, Agustín Mangual; Orator, Felix Garcia; Secretary, Marcos Cordero; Treasurer, Rafael Mangual; Senior Deacon, Joseph R. Cestero; Junior Deacon, Luis Diudone; Marshal, Miguel Valvi y Tyler Pedro Arroyo. The Master of the Lodge thanked the Deputy Grand Master Diputado Gran Maestro for his message. The Deputy Grand Master gave his message to the Brethren of the newly installed Lodge. The Deputy Grand Marshal then proclaimed the lodge constituted in form. The Deputy Grand Lodge Deputation having concluded, they retired to their own hall, where they were reformed and closed with the usual solemnity.

In addition to the Respectable L'hereux Reveil Lodge, there are proofs of the existence of the Symbolic Lodge La Fortaleza ("The Fortress"), associated with Cuban Freemasonry, which was dissolved in the year 1823. With this information, the Puerto Rican Freemason Felix García de la Torre was mentioned as a member of this lodge. Another Respectable Symbolic Lodge called Restauración de la Verdad ("Restoration of Truth") which was established in the area of Mayaguez in 1841. In 1859, information was received regarding the formation of the Grand Lodge of Cuba.
