A symbolic lodge that would hold its meetings in the daytime was a dream of Most Worshipful Grand Master [http://masonicgenealogy.com/MediaWiki/index.php?title=RIGMLSmith Leonard E. Smith], who felt that there were many men denied the benefits of Masonic fellowship because only evening meetings were available in our State. On September 23, 1963, he met with an invited group of brethren to discuss the possibilities of forming such a lodge in Rhode Island. Those present felt that such an endeavor was feasible. Worshipful A. Butler Williams was chosen to proceed with the necessary formalities.
 
  
An organizational meeting was held on November 4, 1963. At that meeting it was decided to use the name Daylight Masonic Club until such time as a Dispensation might be granted. The name Daylight Lodge would be the title of the ultimate organization.
 
  
On November 4, 1964, it was voted to apply for a Dispensation to form a subordinate lodge and this request was presented to the Most Worshipful Grand Master, Charles R. Bonnemort on November 19, 1964. The Dispensation was granted on January 4, 1965, with Worshipful A. At the Annual Communication of Grand Lodge held on May 11, 1965, the charter was granted and the Lodge was constituted by the Most Worshipful Grand Master, [http://masonicgenealogy.com/MediaWiki/index.php?title=RIGMYeaw Gardner M. Yeaw] on September 13, 1965.  Of the first class of candidates too have progressed through the several stations and have become Worshipful Masters.
