BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research (possibly written before Bro. Morrison's death; he died in 1982 and is buried in Bellefontaine Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.):

George Morrison was born on April 8, 1903 in St Louis, Mo the son of Amanda C. and George Ardell Morrison. He attended Wyman Grade School and McKinley High School in St Louis and the School of Civil Engineering of Washington University.

George came under the influence of Masonry early in his life. His father was a member of Cornerstone Lodge No 323 and a Past Commander of Aldemar Commandery and a Past Commander of Missouri Council of Kadosh No 1 in St Louis of the Scottish Rite, being a 33rd degree member. But he died in 1924 before his son became a Mason.

In 1919, the year of the founding of DeMolay he became a member of the St Louis Chapter. In 1950 he was invested with the Legion of Honor.

His Masonic career began when he became a member of Tuscan Lodge No 360 on March 4, 1925 and he served as Master in 1936. He was named DDGM of the 33rd Masonic District and in 1956, Grand Master Craig appointed him as Grand Pursuivant and he progressed through the line until in 1964 he was elected Grand Master.

As Deputy Grand Master, Brother Morrison served as President of the Board of Directors of the Masonic Home and was in office when the Home celebrated its 75th Anniversary.

Brother Morrison followed in his father footsteps in service to the Scottish Rite. He joined St Louis Consistory in 1931 and was appointed to the advancing line of the St Louis Council of Kadosh No 1 in 1936 and served as Commander from 1949-1951.

George joined Moolah Shrine in 1935 and in 1941 was appointed to the Divan. He served as Illustrious Potentate of Moolah Temple during its 60th year. During his term the Tiger Shrine Club and SEMO Shrine Clubs were chartered.

Brother Morrison was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity at Washington University in 1922. the Rotary Club of St Louis, Calbany Chapter No 140 RAM, the Missouri Lodge of Research and the State Historical Society.
