BIOGRAPHY

Winston Humphrey Leach of Unity Lodge No. 34 F. & A. M. of Lonsdale, Rhode Island was elected and installed as the Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations at the One Hundred and Eighty-second Annual Communication held at Scottish Rite Cathedral, Providence, Rhode Island on May 21, 1973.

Most Worshipful Brother Leach was born September 4, 1918. He attended School in the city of Pawtucket, Rhode Island and graduated from Pawtucket Senior High School in 1937. He also attended Rhode Island School of Design evening classes and obtained a certificate in Mechanical Machine Design and Engineering.

Most Worshipful Brother Leach has been employed by Machine Parts Corp. for the past Twenty-six years, serving as sales Engineer and Assistant Office Manager. His Masonic Career started on March 8, 1949 when he received a clear ballot to take the degrees of Freemasonry in Unity Lodge No. 34, Lonsdale, Rhode Island. He took his Entered Apprentice degree on April 26, 1949 and his Master Masons Degree, June 14, 1949 and signed the By-laws September 13, 1949.

He was installed Master of his lodge on February 12, 1957. After serving his lodge as Worshipful Master he was appointed Assistant Grand Lecturer for the Third Masonic District and served in that capacity for three years.

At the One Hundred Seventy-third Annual Communication of the Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations Most Worshipful Brother Leach was appointed to the office of Right Worshipful District Deputy Grand Master of the Seventh Masonic District by Most Worshipful Leonard E. Smith and in the intervening years served every district in the Jurisdiction. Most Worshipful Brother Leach has served every station in his own lodge and every station in Grand Lodge.
