BIOGRAPHY

Malcolm Charles Bromberg of Redwood Lodge No. 35, A. F. & A. M. was elected and installed the One Hundred and Twentieth Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations at the One Hundred and Eighty-fourth Annual Communication held at Scottish Rite Cathedral, Providence, Rhode Island on May 19, 1975.

Most Worshipful Brother Bromberg was born in Providence, Rhode Island on February 5, 1924, the son of Benjamin and Flora Y. (Wolfe) Bromberg.

He was educated in the Providence Public Schools, graduating from Hope High School in 1942. He entered Worcester Polytechnic Institute in September of 1942 where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He was a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity. In 1944 he enlisted in the Navy and served as an electronic technician.

He married in 1947 and was blessed with three children, Howard, Arnold and Judith Ann.

He has been a life long member of Temple Emmanuel of Providence, and has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bureau of Jewish Education and a Vice President of the Providence Hebrew Day School.

Most Worshipful Brother Bromberg presently serves as president of Benny's Home and Auto Stores where he has been employed since 1947. He has served as a Scoutmaster and troop committee chairman for several years and as President of the Providence Radio Association and has been active in other amateur radio and civil defense activities.

He was made a Mason in Redwood Lodge No. 35 in December of 1956. He was elected Worshipful Master on May 10, 1965 and was appointed Seventh District Deputy Grand Master in May of 1966 by Most Worshipful Brother Walter G. Ballou. He was appointed to serve as District Deputy Grand Master in succeeding years and was elected Junior Grand Warden, Senior Grand Warden and Deputy Grand Master. He holds membership in the four bodies of the A. A. S. R. in the Valley of Providence; Providence Royal Arch Chapter No. 1, R. A. M.; Providence Council No. 1, R. & S. M. and Palestine Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S.; Masonic Veterans Association and the R. I. Trowel Club.
