BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research:

Robert Kreger was born on a farm near Lone Jack,Mo., November 16, 1856. He was educated in the public schools in his county and attended the University of Missouri, Following his graduation he taught school in his home county and in 1880 assisted in taking the United States census. Four years later we find him holding a position in the sheriff's office in Independence, Mo. In 1894 he was appointed as inspector in the United States Customs service in Kansas City and later was advanced to the position of acting appraiser. In 1913 he became deputy collector of customs.

His Masonic career began when he was raised to the degree of Master Mason in Temple Lodge No 299, Kansas City, June 19, 1888 and served as Master in 1900. He served as DDGL from 1902 to 1907. He was named Grand Senior Marshal in 1903 and 1904 and elected Grand Master in 1908

He was a member of the York Rite bodies in Kansas City, a member of Mary Conclave Red Cross of Constantine and a Inspector General Honorary 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite.

He served as a Director of the Masonic Home for over thirty years and was activily engaged in the work of the George Washington National Masonic Memorial.

His death occurred March 16, 1942 at this home in Kansas City at the age of 86. The Grand Lodge conducted funeral services at the Masonic Temple, 9th and Harrison, Kansas City, Mo., and interment was in Mt Moriah Cemetery where services were conducted under the direction of Grand Master Harris C. Johnston.
