BIOGRAPHY

Bob Jenkins was born in Chanute, Kansas on March 12, 1929, the son of Winnie and Gerald Jenkins and the first of three children. The family lived in Humbolt and El Dorado before moving to Kansas City in 1943. Bob was very active in sports and student affairs. He was Captain of the basketball team and was a first team All-Star selection; was a member of the track team and played baseball with the Ban Johnson League and became an All-star third baseman.

Brother Jenkins attended the University of Oklahoma, for two years, then transferred to the University of Missouri-Rolla, where he earned a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering in 1953. While at Rolla, he lettered in basketball and track, completed ROTC, and received a commission of Second Lieutenant. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon and Theta Tau.

Upon graduation he was employed by the State Highway Dept. of Illinois. He was called to active duty in the United States Army at the beginning of the Korean Conflict. He spent two years with the Army Corps of Engineers, one of which was in Korea serving as a Company Commander of a Combat Engineer Unit. During the period of active duty he was promoted to First Lieutenant, He remained in the Army Reserve, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel after 20 years of service.

Leaving the active duty in the Army in 1955, he was employed by the Corps of Engineers in Kansas City as a civilian, in the design and construction branch. In 1961, he formed his own company, "Jenkins and Associates, Inc" General Contractor and Engineers.

He married Lady Betty and they were the parents of fourt children, two boys and two girls.

Brother Jenkins was raised in Country Club Lodge No 656, Kansas City, Missouri in 1961. Is a member of Westport Chapter No 134 RAM, Westport Council No 38 R&SM serving as Master in 1972 and Westport Commandery No 68, KT serving as Commander in 1974. He was elected Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery KT of the State of Missouri in 1983.

He is a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Kansas City and was coroneted a 33rd degree and served as Personal Representative of the SGIG, he is a member of Ararat Shrine, Mary Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine, Missouri Priory NO 17 KYCH, the Missouri Lodge of Research, Quatour Coronati Lodge of Research No 2076 and Past President of the Kansas City Chapter National Sojourners and Past Commander of the Heros of 76,
