Robert Aronson was born on May 8, 1907, in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. He was educated in the public schools (Central High School) in St Louis. He attended the School of Law at Washington University in St Louis where he received a LL.B. degree in 1928. An honor graduate of Washington University, he was admitted to the Bar in 1928.

He was a practicing attorney in St Louis until elected to the circuit bench in 1938 for a term ending December 31, 1944, retained in office in 1944, 1950 and 1956. He was a member of Coif Honorary Legal Fraternity, the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar Association, the St Louis Bar Association and the Lawyer's Association of St Louis.

In June of 1951, upon completion of a year's assignment as Presiding Judge, he was presented, by the Lawyer's Association with a plaque expressing special commendations for successful efforts in expediting the disposition of the docket of the court. On February 19, 1955, Washington University awarded hime as Distinguished Alumnus Citation.

Brother Aronson was a member of St Louis Lodge No 20, St Louis, Missouri since 1932. appointed Chaplain in 1934 and served as Master in 1941. He served as DDGM under Grand Master Donnell and was appointed Grand Pursuivant by incoming Grand Master Sunderland. Aronson was elected and installed Grand Master in 1958.

He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of St Louis and coroneted in October of 1959 as a 33rd degree and a Past Worthy Patron of St Louis Chapter No 357, Order of the Eastern Star.

Most Worshipful Brother Aronson together with Most Worshipful Brother Rumer originated and instititued what is now an established annual event, the Annual Grand Master's Breakfast.

On of the outstanding events during his year, was leading a host of Masons from all over the State to a meeting of former President Truman's lodge in Kansas City on which occasion he presented Most Worshipful Brother Truman with his 50-year Emblem.


Missouri Grand Masters
