Homer Ferguson was born in Chamois, Missouri on October 10. 1905, the Ferguson family moved some years later to Jefferson City, Missouri. He attended grade and high school in Jefferson City. In 1929, at the age of 24, his father passed away and being the eldest of nine children, he was confronted with responsibilities that few young men are called on to assume.

Lacking formal education, he qualified in due time through special study and actual experience as a Registered Professional Electrical Engineer. He eventually became District Superintendent of the Company.

His Masonic career began, February 24, 1927 when he was initiated into Jefferson Lodge No 43, Jefferson City, Mo., passed June 2nd and raised, September 5th of the same year, He served as Master in 1941

He was a Past High Priest of Jefferson Chapter No 34, a member of Ezra Council No 32 and Prince of Peace Commandery No 29, along with the Scottish Rite in St Louis and Moolah Shrine.
