BIOGRAPHY

Frank Ames Arnold, the oldest of seven children of Frank Joseph and Ruth Schlenz Ames Arnold was born on February 3, 1921 at Cortez Colorado. His father was Superintendent of the Cortez Public Schools and both parents were teachers, Since both his father and grandfather were named Frank he was always known as Frank Ames.

In 1922, the family moved to Canon City and Frank Ames attended public schools in Canon City graduating from Canon City High School in 1938.Frank Ames chose the teaching profession for his life work and attended the University of Colorado at Boulder where he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1942 with a distributed major and minor in mathematics. He received his Master of Arts in English Literature in 1964 from the University of Missouri.

He was an instructor of mathematics at Pagosa Springs Public Schools, Colorado 1942-1943 and in 1944 accepted a contract at Kemper Military School in Boonville. For 27 years he taught mathematics, high school and college English composition and literature. He also served as Chairman of the English Department and served as Supervisor of the College Examination Program.

At Kemper, he met Miss Ruth Virginia Chaney, the nurse at the school hospital. They were married in Boulder on August 23, 1945 and lived at 733 Main Street, Boonville in home built in 1857 and listed in the national register of historic places. The furnishings were antique walnut pieces some of which can still be found in the Masonic Temple in Boonville.

Brother Arnold was raised to the Degree of Master Mason in Cooper Lodge No 36 at Boonville, Missouri on May 5, 1949 and served as Master in 1954 and Secretary from 1987 to 1998.

He served as DDGL of the 25th Masonic District from 1956-1962, Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge of Missouri from 1970 to 1985 and appointed to the advancing line in 1985 serving as Grand Master in 1993.

Frank Ames belonged to Boonville Chapter No 60 RAM and served as High Priest in 1958, Centralia Council No 34, serving as Master in 1972 and Olivet Commandery No 53, serving as Commander in 1959.

He belonged to the Valley of Columbia Scottish Rite in 1970, invested with the KCCH in 1976 and coronated a 33rd Degree in 1993

Grandmaster Arnold was a member of Moolah Shrine, June 1971 and an honorary member of Ararat in 1972.

He was initiated in Boonville Chapter No 419,Order of the Eastern Star in November of 1949, served as Worthy Patron many times and served as Grand Worthy Patron of the Grand Chapter OES in 1966

Frank Ames belonged to St Chrysostom Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine and served as Sovereign in 1987. Lord of Lord's Tabernacle LI, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priest, DeMolay Legion of Honor and Missouri Priory No 17 KYCH.

Grand Master Arnold died in 1998 with Grand Master Jeffery O. Nations conducting the Masonic Services followed by Religious Services.
