Byrne Bigger was born on a farm near Laclede Mo. He was educated in the local school system, attended Wesleyan College in Cameron, Mo and the University of Missouri studying Law, graduating in 1905. He was the son of Past Grand Master Clay Bigger.

Born into a strong Masonic family, he petitioned Cypress Lodge No 227, Laclede Mo., of which his father was a member, being initiated November 27, 1906, passed December 20th and raised January 2, 1907, by the then Grand Master David M. Wilson. Following his removal to Hannibal, he dimitted from Cypress Lodge and affiliated with Hannibal Lodge No 188 on January 25, 1909, He became Master of the Lodge in 1910, having been installed by then Grand Master Clay Bigger. Brother Bigger served as DDGM of the 15th District for thirteen years. He was appointed Grand Pursuivant by Grand Master Julius C. Garrell and was elected Grand Master in St Louis, September 26, 1928.

Brother Bigger was a member of the York Rite bodies and the Shrine.

Judge Bigger served as Judge of Probate beginning in 1910. During his college years he was a member of Delta Tau Delta and while in Law School he was a member of the legal fraternity Phi Delta Phi.

Perhaps the crowning honor of Judge Bigger's year as Grand Master was his being called to preside over the Grand Master's Conference at Washington D.C. on February 20, 1929.

Most Worshipful Brother Byrne Bigger was summoned to the Grand Lodge of everlasting refreshment on November 21, 1962. Graveside Masonic services were conducted by Grand Master Martin Dickerson at Mount Olive Cemetery, Hannibal Missouri.
