BIOGRAPHY

From Missouri Lodge of Research:

Arthur Goodman was born on March 6, 1912, in a farmhouse near Bell City in Stoddard County, Missouri. He attended elementary school and high school in Bell City, graduating in 1927. He continued his education by attending the Chillicothe Business College. He graduated in 1928. Subsequently and attorney employed him in Kennett, Missouri. While thus employed, he completed a three-year course in law by correspondence. He was admitted to the Bar in the State of Missouri in 1934.

Following his graduation from Chillicothe Business College he obtained employment as secretary to State Senator Landon R. Jones. He served the Senator in that capacity during the Regular Session in 1933 and the Special Sessions in 1933 and 1934. He also served as secretary to the Honorable Orville Zimmerman from 1934 until 1939, while Mr. Zimmerman was a member of the United States Congress.

In 1938 he opened a law office in Kennett and served as City Attorney for Kennett and later as Prosecuting Attorney for Dunklin County. Upon the adoption of the 1945 Missouri Constitution, Judge Goodman was elected as the first Judge of the Magistrate Court of Dunklin County. In 1952 he was elected Judge of the 35th Judicial District of Missouri and served until his death.

Judge Goodman's Masonic record of service is long and honorable. He was a member of Kennett Lodge No 68, Helm Chapter No 117 RAM, Malden Commandery NO 61, KT, Kilwinning Council No 19 AMD, Missouri Lodge of Research, Scottish Rite, KCCH, Moola Shrine and Kennett Chapter No 211 OES.

The Conference of Grand Masters of North America and three other associated international conferences, customarily meeting annually in Washington D.C. assembled in Kansas City during the week of February 17, 1964. Grand Master Goodman and his wife served as hosts for the Conference.

Most Worshipful Brother Goodman died on November 21, 1966.
