By virtue of his election, Bro. Vinton becomes a permanent member of Grand Lodge. A Mason for 39 years, he was raised at Charles River Lodge in Medway. He served his lodge as Master for the first time in 1980, again in 1991, and a third time in 2004. He was awarded the Joseph Warren Medal, for distinguished service, in 2009. He is also a charter member of The DeMolay Lodge, which was instituted in 1976.

He has been active in DeMolay since his teens. He was master counselor for King Philip Chapter in 1967 and received the Order's Chevalier Degree in 1969.He had the honor of serving as state master councilor in 1971. In 2009, he was recognized again when he was awarded the Legion of Honor - DeMolay Supreme Council's highest award is conferred on senior DeMolays for outstanding service to the Order.

Brother Vinton is a member of Scottish Rite in the Valley of Boston, where he served as a degree worker for several years. He is also a member of Aleppo Shrine in Wilmington. He is a member of the York Rite's Mount Lebanon Royal Arch Chapter and Milford Council of Royal and Select Masters.

Rt. Wor. Bro. Vinton began his service to Grand Lodge as District Deputy Grand Master for the 15th Masonic District in 2007-2008. He served on the 275th Anniversary Committee, the Redistricting Committee in 2008, the Youth Committee since 2008, and the Lodge of Instruction Committee beginning in 2009. He is the grand representative to Benin.

Raised and educated in Medway, Bro. Vinton and his wife still reside there. They have two sons, the youngest now attending college. He served the Medway Fire Department for 36 years, and retired as chief.
