REGULAR SESSIONS

ANNUAL SESSION, 09/13/1825

Meeting held at Newburyport (Ch1-288):

Grand Chapter opened.

  • The report of the committee of Finance was read and accepted.
  • The committee on the use of the Masonic Hall reported.
  • The committee on Rising Sun Chapter reported that it had visited Nantucket in July and summoned the members of the chapter "to appear before them, and collectively and individually to make known their grievances and complaints. The summons was cheerfully obeyed, and a long and patient investigation was held." After this airing of grievances, a petition was presented to have the charter restored.
  • A dispensation for a Chapter in Northampton was announced, bearing the date 06/23/1825.
  • A committee was formed to inquire of the dues status of King Hiram's Chapter at Greenwich.

The meeting elected the officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year, with M. E. Paul Dean unanimously re-elected Grand High Priest, and other officers elected and appointed as noted on Pages ChI-293 and ChI-294.

  • It was moved that Article 13 of the Regulations be amended "to require of all the Chapters . . . a unanimous vote in favor of the admission of every candidate for the degrees and for membership." Referred to Committee. It was also directed that the committee consider the taking of notes of hand.

STATED MEETING, 12/13/1825

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-298):

  • The committee on King Hiram's Chapter at Greenwich was given leave to sit again.
  • The committee on by-laws recommended that the Regulations be modified to require unanimous votes for admission and membership, and that the taking of notes of hand for payment is "inconsistent with the spirit of the institution." These modifications were accepted by vote.
  • A report was given regarding the forming of a Grand Chapter in the District of Columbia was given.

  • The committee on King Hiram's Chapter at Greenwich was given leave to sit again.
  • A petition for a Chapter in Sutton was again presented and referred to Committee.

The Grand Chapter consecrated Brookfield Chapter and installed its officers.

The Grand Chapter consecrated Northampton Chapter and installed its officers.

SPECIAL MEETING AT CONCORD, 08/16/1826

Held in Concord (ChI-306):

The Grand Chapter consecrated Concord Chapter and installed its officers.

SPECIAL MEETING AT LOWELL, 08/31/1826

Held in Lowell (ChI-309):

The Grand Chapter consecrated Mt. Horeb Chapter and installed its officers.
