REGULAR SESSIONS

ANNUAL SESSION, 09/12/1815

Meeting held at Mason's Hall, Newburyport (ChI-127):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Grand Chapter voted as follows:

  • To review the accounts of Treasurer and Secretary and fix their compensation.
  • To reimburse Comp. Henry Fowle, who reported on the regalia of the Grand Chapter, "and found them in no condition for a public profession . . . therefore (with the advice and consent of such of the Grand Officers as he could conveniently see) had them put in order. . ."

The meeting elected and appointed the following officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year:

STATED MEETING, 06/13/1815

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-121):

The Grand Chapter opened.

A new Breast Plate was presented to the Grand Chapter.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To establish a new committee on suspensions and expulsions, consisting of Comps. Fowle, Sigourney and Whitman.
  • To adopt the following resolution:
    • "That every Chapter under the jurisdiction of this Grand Chapter, shall require of every candidate by them accepted and advanced, the full fee for exaltation, and that every Chapter shall make a return of those advanced and pay the fee to the Grand Chapter, although such candidate may not have been exalted."

A report was made that the Order of High Priesthood had been conferred upon Comps. Alpheus Harding and Thomas W. Colby.

SPECIAL MEETINGS

SPECIAL MEETING AT BOSTON, 05/28/1816

Held at Masons' Hall, Boston (ChI-132):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Committees on censures and expulsions, and on fees, reported and were directed to continue.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To extend the dispensation for the Chapter in Greenwich to December 13.
  • To pay for the expenses of those attending the meeting of the General Grand Chapter.
  • That a dinner be provided for the Annual Communication.

SPECIAL MEETING AT GREENWICH, 09/04/1816

Held at the home of Comp. John Warner, Greenwich (ChI-133):

The Grand Chapter opened, and received the report on King Hiram's Chapter, U. D., of Greenwich, which found the records in order and the members duly proficient. The Committee consisted of Companions Sigourney, Caleb Butler and Augustus Peabody.)

A procession was then formed to the hall, where a prayer was given by Rev. Com. Jonathan Nye of Newfane, Vermont, along with a "discourse . . . which combining elegance with persipicuity and strength of language with precision of thought, not only displayed his ability as an orator, but his literary eminence as a writer." The Chapter was then consecrated, and the procession returned, and "proceeded to refreshment and partook of a handsome collation."
