ANNUAL SESSION, 09/10/1811

Meeting held at Mason's Hall, Newburyport (ChI-80):

The Grand Chapter opened.

Grand Chapter voted as follows:

  • To review the accounts of Treasurer and Secretary and fix their compensation.
  • To address a disciplinary meeting in King Cyrus Chapter.
  • To appoint Companions Purkitt, Fowle and A. Sigourney to report on "a form for ceremonies of installation and public processions."
  • To appoint Companions Hopkins, Woart, Gage, Purkitt and Knapp as a committee on "what measures shall be adopted to prevent spurious Royal Arch Masons from gaining admission into regular Chapters."

The meeting elected the following officers for the Grand Royal Arch Chapter for the ensuing year:

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To grant a Charter to Washington Chapter in Salem.

STATED MEETING, 06/11/1811

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-78):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Committee on form of installation and public processions reported a form; the vote was postponed to the next meeting of the Grand Chapter. The "propriety of designating appropriate jewels for subordinate officers in the several Chapters" was referred to this committee.

STATED MEETING, 06/09/1812

Held at Mason's Hall, Boston (ChI-90):

The Grand Chapter opened.

The Grand Chapter voted:

  • To add Companions Abbot and Hammatt to the Committee on the form of installations.
  • A petition from Companions James Gurney, Peter Hussey, Thaddeus Coffin and others, "to open and hold a Chapter of Royal Arch Masons in the town of Nantucket, by the name of The Rising Sun." Voted to be granted if a recommendation was obtained from St. Andrew's Chapter.

The Committee on Expulsions reported.

The regalia Committee reported.

SPECIAL MEETING, 01/15/1812

Held at Mason's Hall, Salem; ChI-85:

The present form for installations and public processions was directed to be used for this event.

Washington Chapter was installed and constituted by the Grand Chapter. A full description of this event, the first well-documented constitution of a Royal Arch Chapter, is given in detail starting on Page ChI-86.
