Grand Master, 1994-1995

BIOGRAPHY

Gordon Hoipkins was born in St. Joseph, Missouri and except for his college and army years, has lived all of his life in that city.

Gordon was a member of the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout, with a Bronze and Silver palm, earned the God and Country Award and was a Member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say.

He received his elementary, secondary and two years of college education in St Joseph. Brother Hopkins completed his B.S. Degree in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, Columbia. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years serving with the Army Security Agency at Ft. Devens, Massachusetts, being discharged withthe rank of E-5.

Brother Hopkins and his wife, Beverly Elaine are the parents of two children, Ed (Gordon E. Jr. and Cindy.

Gordon was the owner-manager of the Jamieson Machine Company, an independent distributor of industrial equipment and supplies.

Brother Hopkins Masonic career dates from October 26, 1970 being elected to receive the degrees in Charity Lodge No 331 on October 26, 1970, his birthday. He served as Master in 1976 and in 1978 he was elected Treasurer.

In 1971, he received the Scottish Rite Degrees, receiving the KCCH in 1975 and being coronated a 33rd degree in 1983. He was appointed Personal Representative of the SGIG by Earl K. Dille in 1990.

He was a member of Mitchell Chapter No 15, RAM, serving as High Priest in 1992. St Joseph Council No 9, R&SM serving as Master in 1996 and Hugh de Payne Commandery No 4. He was a member of St Joseph Conclave Red Cross of Constantine and Moila Shrine.

In the Grand Lodge, Gordon served on the Committee on Chartered Lodges, DDGM of the 9th Masonic District, the Ways and Means Committee and served elected to a term on the Board of Directors of the Masonic Home. He was appointed to the advancing line by P. Vincent Kinkade and was elected Grand Master in 1994.

Grand Master Hopkins died February 8, 2014 with Masonic Services.
