MEMORIAL

From Proceedings, Page 1934-18:

Right Worshipful Brother Walls was born in Kirkwall, Orkney Islands, September 24, 1863, and died in Valparaiso, Chile, November 18, 1933.

Brother Walls went to Chile in 1888 and spent the rest of his life there, the greater part of the time in Valparaiso. His business life was spent in the grocery business, in which he was connected with very important British firms operating in Chile.

Brother Walls took his Masonic degrees in Bethesda Lodge, of Valparaiso, in 1893 and 1894. He dimitted in 1899 and joined St. John's Lodge, of Concepcion, re-affiliating with Bethesda Lodge in 1904. He was Master of St. John's Lodge in 1902 and between 1904 and 1917 was five times Master of Bethesda Lodge. Upon the death of Right Worshipful David Urquhart, District Grand Master for Chile, in 1920, Brother Walls was appointed Acting District Grand Master by Most Worshipful Arthur D. Prince. When it was decided not to continue a District Grand Lodge organization in Chile, Right Worshipful Brother Walls was continued in office as District Deputy Grand Master, holding that position until, much to the regret of Grand Lodge, he retired at the and of 1926.

He was also a member and Past High Priest of King Cyrus Royal Arch Chapter, of Valparaiso. Brother Walls was highly honored in the community in which he lived for his business integrity, splendid personalitY, and devotion in the discharge of every duty which came to him.
