Won Donald P. Garrido, Past Master of Sojourners Lodge, Cristobal, Panama Canal District, is the new deputy to the International Supreme Council and Executive Officer in the jurisdiction of Panama for the Order of DeMolay. He was invested with the Legion of Honor in 1985.

A Past Deputy District Grand Master and Past Master of the First Lodge of Instruction in Panama, he was presented the Joseph Warren Medal in 1984. With membership in the Panama Canal Scottish Rite Bodies, Valley of Balboa, he was coroneted a Thirty-third degree Mason in 1983. He is a past presiding officer of all four bodies. A member of the Panama Canal York Rite Bodies, he was recipient of the Royal Arch Distinguished Service Medal, and in 1981 he was Potentate of Saad Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S.

Bro. Garrido and his wife, Lydia, are Past Patron and Past Matron of Orchid Chapter No. 1, Order of the Eastern Star. They are parents of Lydia Denise Garrido and Ronald Joseph Garrido.

BIOGRAPHY

R. W. Donald Prieto Garrido of LaBoca, Republic of Panama, was appointed District Grand Master of the Panama Canal Masonic District by M.W. Edgar W. Darling. Unable to attend the installation of Grand Lodge officers Dec. 27, he was installed into his office on Jan. 27 by R. W. Charles R. Lavallee, the man he succeeds in office. The political crisis in Panama prevented his traveling to Boston for the traditional ceremony.

Raised in Zeredatha Lodge No. 131, Jersey City, NJ, on May 21, 1952, he affiliated with Sojourners' Lodge, Cristobal, in 1964. A Past Deputy District Grand Master and Past Master of the First Lodge of Instruction, he was presented the Joseph Warren Medal in 1984. A native of New Orleans, he graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1971. He is a chief pilot for the Panama Canal Commission and first arrived there in 1962 following military sea transportation service at Brooklyn, NY.

He is a member of the Scottish and York Rite Bodies and a past president officer of all York Rite Bodies. He is a recipient of the Royal Arch Distinguished Service Medal and is presently Grand High Priest of the Grand Chapter of Panama. A Past Potentate of Abou Saad Temple, he has been awarded the Order of Manuel Amador Guerrero in the Grade of Commander by the President of the Republic of Panama and the Honor Public Service Award from the Panama Canal Commission. He is now the deputy to the International Supreme Council and Executive Office in the jurisdiction of Panama for the Order of DeMolay and holder of the Honorary Legion of Honor.

With Merchant Marine service in World War II he retired from the U.S. Naval Reserve as Captain with pay in 1987, he and his wife Lydia are the parents of Lydia Denise Garrido, Past Worthy Advisor of Balboa Assembly No. 1, Rainbow, and Ronald Joseph Garrido. They are students in Panama. Dad and mother are active in Orchid Chapter #1, Eastern Star. They have been honored for their work in Rainbow with the Grand Cross of Color award.
