BIOGRAPHY

Harvey Knight Peet of Adelphoi Lodge No. 33, A. F. & A. M. of East Providence was elected and installed the One Hundred and Twenty-Seventh Most Worshipful Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of the Most Ancient and Honorable Society of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations at the One Hundred and Ninety-First Annual Communication held in the Scottish Rite Cathedral, Cranston, Rhode Island on May 17, 1982.

Most Worshipful Brother Peet was born in Providence, Rhode Island on August 17, 1936 the son of George Herbert Lewis Peet and Elisabeth Knight Peet. He was educated in the Phillips Exeter Academy. He attended Cornell University, graduating in 1958 and Harvard Business School in 1965. He was a member of the Rl Air National Guard, receiving a commission in 1965. On August 20, 1962 he married Gail Eastman Parks of Providence, Rl They have two daughters, Elisabeth, a student at Simmons College and Katherine, who attends Pleasant View School and one son, Benjamin, a student at Rocky Hill School.

Both the Grand Master and his wife are active members of St. Martin's Episcopal Church in Providence and they are both licensed lay readers and chalice bearers.

Most Worshipful Brother Peet's Masonic career began on May 15, 1963 when he was initiated as an Entered Apprentice in Adelphoi Lodge No. 33, East Providence, Rhode Island. He was raised in that lodge by his Grandfather, the late Brother Howard Knight, who was Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Rhode Island in 1925-1926. He was elected Worshipful Master of Adelphoi Lodge No. 33 on January 5, 1971.

He was appointed Seventh District Deputy Grand Master by Most Worshipful Winston H. Leach in May 1973 and served in each Masonic District (with the exception of the Fifth) as a District Deputy Grand Master. He was elected Junior Grand Warden in May, 1979; Senior Grand Warden in May, 1980; and Deputy Grand Master in May of 1981.

He holds membership in four bodies of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence, Palestine Temple, A. A. O. N. M. S. and Moslem Grotto, M. O. V. P. E. R.
