BIOGRAPHY

Most Worshipful Brother McGuire was born September 9, 1928 in Fall River, Massachusetts and educated in the Fall River public schools. He served in the US Merchant Marine from September 1944 through December 1947 and the US Army from August 1948 through August 1952 as a telephone and telegraph lineman foreman attaining the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. He spent 16 months in the Korean theatre of operations.

He attended RI Radio School for 2 years and served a four year apprenticeship at the Naval Air Station, Quonset Point, RI and was subsequently employed as an electronics technician. Most Worshipful Brother McGuire also attended several courses at URI in Management and Mathematics. He retired from Civil Service after completing 33 years of Federal Service in September 1983. Currently, he is employed part time by McLaughlin Research Corporation in Middletown as a logistician.

In November of 1954 he married Joan Clarke. This union was blessed with 3 children and 6 grandchildren.

Most Worshipful Brother McGuire’s Masonic history is as follows: Initiated March 10, 1960; Passed April 12, 1960; Raised May 12, 1960 and admitted to membership in Warwick Lodge No. 16 on June 9, 1960. Elected Worshipful Master on October 24, 1967 and served Grand Lodge as Grand Lecturer from 1976 to 1979. He received the Grand Lodge of Rhode Island Exemplary Service Award on May 21, 1979. He was appointed District Deputy Grand Master of the 7th Masonic District in 1979 and served 7 years as a DDGM after which he was elected Junior Grand Warden 1986, Senior Grand Warden 1987, Deputy Grand Master 1988 and Grand Master, May 15, 1989.

Most Worshipful Brother McGuire is presently serving Warwick Lodge No. 16 as it Treasurer. He is also a member of Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Providence (1st Lieutenant Commander, R. I. Consistory); Landmark Chapter No. 10; Providence Council No. 1; St. John’s Commandery No. 1; Palestine Temple A. A. O. N. M. S., Legion of Honor (1st Lieutenant Commander); Red Cross of Constantine, Plantations Conclave of Rhode Island; and Gaspee Order Sword of Bunker Hill.
