INFORMATION FROM PAST GRAND MASTER JOHNSON'S ADDRESS, SEPTEMBER 1931

In 1931, Past Grand Master Melvin M. Johnson gave a paper at the September Quarterly Communication of Grand Lodge, detailing information regarding the activities of St. John's Grand Lodge, demonstrating that it was active during the period for which records were, and remain, unavailable. The following items are from his report, and indicate the page in the 1931 Proceedings where they are listed.

SPECIAL COMMUNICATIONS

  • I-220: 08/04; Bunch of Grapes Tavern, Boston.
    • I-220: "Voted, That John Cutler & Nath Patten Esqr be a Committee totransact the prudential affairs of this Lodge."
    • I-220: "Voted, That Joseph Gardner our Treasurer be directed to pay into their hands the sum which may be due to Thomas Brown late Secretary of this Lodge & any other Expences which they may be at in Obtaining from him the Books, Papers & Jewells in his hands belonging to the Lodge and also Three & half dollars to Jno. Jones in full for his Services as Toiler.
    • I-220: "Voted, That the above Committee write a Circular Letter to all the Lodges under this Jurisdiction, requiring their Attendance at the Grand Lodge, to Assist in Choosing Grand Officers agreeable to the Constitution."

Note: There is no record of any meetings of the Grand Lodge from these special meetings until July 1790.
