Right Worshipful Henry Dietz Ramm was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, on August 20, 1915, the son of Henry L. Ramm and Anna Clara (Dietz) Ramm, and died at Methuen, Massachusetts on Friday, February 10, 1995.

Brother Ramm spent his early life in Lawrence, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1933 and later attending Mclntosh Business School. He was a Veteran of World War II, stationed at the Portsmouth Naval Base as a Mailman Second Class. He continued his career in the postal service as Superintendent of Mails at the Lawrence Post Office. Following his retirement in 1983, he served the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts as Supervisor of the Supply and Mailing Department for several years.

Right Worshipful Brother Ramm received the three Masonic Degrees in Grecian Lodge (now Lawrence United Lodge) on February 24, ApriI 28 and May 26, 1939. He served as Worshipful Master in 1951-1952 and as Secretary for fifteen years from 1961 to 1976. He was District Deputy Grand Master of the Lawrence Eleventh Masonic District in 1962 and 1963 and was Senior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts in 1971. He also received the Henry Price Medal of the Grand Lodge in that year. He was a member of the Grand Lodge Education Committee and Grand Representative of the Grand Lodge of Wisconsin near the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. He received the Grand Lodge Fifty-year Veteran's Medal in 1989.

He was a Charter Member of both The DeMolay Lodge of Boston and Merrimack Valley Daylight Lodge of North Andover as well as an Honorary Member of our Sinim Lodge of Tokyo, Japan. He was Past President of the Masonic Secretaries' Association, Past Master of the Nineteenth Lodge of Instruction, Past President of the Masters' Association of the Eleventh Masonic District, and Past President of the Lawrence Masonic Association.

Brother Ramm was a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, High Twelve International, and of Aleppo Temple, A.A.O.N.M.S., serving for many years as a volunteer at the Shriners Burns Institute in Boston. A member of Essex Chapter, Order of DeMolay, Lawrence, he was the recipient also of the Active Legion of Honor, Order of DeMolay.

In the York Rite, Right Worshipful Brother Ramm was exalted in King Cyrus Royal Arch Chapter, later affiliating with Saint Andrew's Chapter, greeted in Amesbury Council, Royal and Select Masters, later affiliating with Boston Council, and knighted in Saint Bernard Commandery No. 12, Knights Templar of Boston.

In the Scottish Rite, he was a member of Lawrence Lodge of Perfection and Zion Council, Princes of Jerusalem, which he served as Sovereign Prince in 1970-1971 in the Valley of Lawrence. He was a member of Mount Calvary Chapter of Rose Croix in the Valley of Lowell and Massachusetts Consistory in the Valley of Boston. He served Massachusetts Consistory as Associate Chancellor, 1967 -1969; Assistant Master of Ceremonies, 1969-1982; Second Lieutenant Commander, 1982-1985; and Aide to the Commander-in-Chief, 1985-1995. He was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33°, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, on September 25, 1974, at Atlantic City.

Our Brother was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, where he was a former Elder and Chairman of the Board of Trustees. He was also one of the founding Committeemen of Cub Scout Pack No. 2 at the church.

Brother Ramm is survived by his wife of 53 years, Dorothy (Goller) Ramm; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Joan) Jordan of Mystic, Connecticut; a son, John C. Ramm of Tyrone, Georgia, and two grandchildren.

A Masonic Service was conducted on Monday evening, February 13,1995, by Lawrence United Lodge at the Emmert Funeral Home, Lawrence. Funeral Services were held on Tuesday, February 14, 1995, at the United Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, led by the Reverend Thomas W. Nissley, Pastor. Interment was at the Walnut Grove Cemetery in Methuen. The well-attended services reflected the esteem in which Right Worshipful Ramm was held by his Brother Masons and their recognition of his contributions over'the years to the advancement of the Fraternity.
