Arthur Ralph Derbyshire, 33°
Born in Fall River, Massachusetts, November, 10, 1894
Died in Swansea, Massachusetts, November 12, 1972

Ill. Arthur Ralph Derbyshire, 33°, was the son of Ralph and Ellen (Kippax) Derbyshire. He was born and raised in Fall River, Mass., and received his education in the Fall River Schools. After the death of his wife he moved to Swansea, Mass., to live with his son, Dr. Bruce Derbyshire.

Ill. Brother Derbyshire was employed as Vice President of the Fall River National Bank until his retirement several years ago. He was also a director and Clerk of the Board of the Fall River Five Cents Savings Bank. He was active in many civic organizations in Fall River.

Ill. Brother Derbyshire was raised a Master Mason July 19, 1920 in Pioneer Lodge, A.F. & A.M. in Somerset, Mass., and was Wor. Master in 1927. He received the Veterans' Medal in 1970.

He re­ceived his Scottish Rite degrees in Fall River Lodge of Perfection January 22, 1923, Samuel C. Lawrence Council, Princes of Jerusa­lem January 22, 1923, Saint Andrew Chapter of Rose Croix, Feb­ruary 5, 1923, Massachusetts Consistory, April 27, 1923, Affiliated Old Colony Consistory, October 13, 1953. He served as Thrice Potent Master, Fall River Lodge of Perfection, 1953.

Ill. Brother Derbyshire was created a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, 33°, Honorary Member of the Supreme Council, Septem­ber 29, 1948. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and was Honored as a fifty year member in 1970. He was active for many years in the Anti Tuberculosis Society. He is survived by a son, Dr. Bruce Derbyshire, of Swansea, Mass., and one daughter, Mrs. Robert J. (Mary Faith) Day, of New Hampshire. Services were held at the Waring Funeral Home on November 15, 1972. Reverend Edward Vanderhay of the First Baptist Church officiated at 11 A.M. and six Honorary Members of the Valley of Fall River attended. Pioneer Lodge A.F. & A.M. held the Masonic Ritual on the evening prior to the Funeral. The service of the lodge was well attended. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery, Fall River, Mass.
