MOST Worshipful Brother Sinclair Kirtley first appeared in the Grand Lodge of Missouri in 1829. His first recognition was at the October Session in 1830, when he was elected Senior Grand Warden, serving until the Annual Session of December, 1831. He was called to the Grand East at the Annual Communication in December, 1833, serving until November, 1834, when he was succeeded by Brother A. B. Chambers. Brother Kirtley was the first one of the old Grand Masters that was called, after serving a term as Grand Master, to a subordinate office. On retiring from the Grand Master's chair in 1834, he was chosen Deputy Grand Master, which position he held two terms, until October, 1836. He evidently held over the second year, as no Annual Communication was held in 1835, owing to the Anti-Masonic sentiment prevailing at that period.

BIOGRAPHY

From Biographies of Past Grand Masters, 1821-1901, by the Grand Lodge of Missouri:

He represented Columbia Lodge No. 16 as Master in the Grand Lodge Session of 1830. No other information can be obtained. His death occurred in 1853.
